Thoughts, What Are They?
For the longest time in my life, I used to believe that your thoughts are you. They emanate from your soul, and they are a reflection of your own character.
What I didn’t know? was how destructive this can be. Attaching your identity with your thoughts.
But I know this now, and it’s really powerful – your thoughts are not you. They do not always reflect your desires, goals or who you truly are as a person. They don’t. But here’s the catch – just because you are not your thoughts doesn’t mean they aren’t powerful.
If you don’t watch your thoughts, your thoughts start dictating your life.
Now think about it, would you like something, that’s not even you, to have such a big control over your life?
Why You Must Tame Them
Now that we have established that you and your thoughts are two different beings – it must feel easy, straightforward even, how easily you can mold your thoughts.
If you, as a person, are unhappy – doesn’t mean your thoughts need to be unhappy as well. Separate yourself from them. Treat your thoughts as an entirely different entity, one that you form in whichever way you want.
This is non-negotiable, because you need to learn to tame your thoughts.
One who cannot tame their thoughts, cannot tame their life. There is simply no other way around.
But Why Am I Saying All This?
Because for the beginning of my life, the first 22 years of my life were spent at the mercy of my thoughts. I used to think – if this happens, then I will feel ‘happy’ or have ‘happy thoughts’. If I get this, then I will feel ‘fine’..
But guess what, it never happened.
Why?
Because I was waiting for my life to change first – before changing my thoughts about life.
Learnt it the hard way, it doesn’t work like that!
So, The Serene Saint is here to tell you all that she has learned about life till now – not much experience – just 23 years on this earth – yet, if you can carry with yourself even one thing that helps you to make your life better, I’d have done my part.
